The 2015 Brave New Play Rites Festival’s first year off-campus on the always fabulous Granville Island has been an outstanding success. A true collaboration between emerging and mid-career artists from UBC and the Vancouver theatre community.

We thank everyone who made it out to PTC and Studio 1398 — it was thrilling to see so many new connections made in the community this year. Truly a big glorious leap for aspiring theatre artists at the university to make within Vancouver’s glowing theatre world!

For now, stay on top of all things Brave New by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

And feel free to email us at for anything.

All the best,
Justin, Ramon, and Sasha

About Brave New Play Rites

Every year, UBC’s Brave New Play Rites Festival premieres ten short full productions and a staged reading series at Studio 1398 on Granville Island. In 2018, the festival dates are March 10-17. The plays, written by UBC Creative Writing students, are an ambitious collaboration between emerging and established directors, dramaturgs, designers and actors from our vibrant artistic community to create stories of profundity, hilarity and chaos.
