THUMP THUMP is an absurd comedy about Maribel, a young woman who wants to find her former best friend and demand an apology. The only problem is… she is in complete denial of that fact that they both just jumped off the top of a really tall building.

Liesl Lafferty: As a playwright, dramaturg and director, Liesl has largely focused on creating and presenting new Canadian works. She received the Larry Lillo – Jessie Award for Outstanding Direction of a Play for House, by Daniel MacIvor. Another career highlight was directing and co-writing A Town Called Hockey at the Arts Club Theatre. Liesl is the President of the Board of Directors for Wet Ink Collective, a group of professional theatre women writing and developing new plays.
Dawn Milman is a writer, director, dramaturg and actor. She has spent the better part of the last twenty years working in and out of theatre and television. Some career highlights include directing and dramturging Yumi Ogawa’s Japanglish, being a part of the Wet Ink Collective, and working for several seasons with Paperny Films. She is delighted to work alongside this group of dynamic artists and the Brave New Play Rites Festival. Dawn is a graduate of Studio 58.
Joelly Segal (Maribel)After a lengthy hiatus, Joelly is excited to return to her love of theatre and work with some dear old friends. Most days you can find her wrangling her 4 children, whipping up a delicious gluten-free treat or practicing yoga. As you may have guessed, Joelly is from Vancouver. Her special skills include parallel parking and breastfeeding. She is a graduate of Studio 58.
Yumi Ogawa (Olivia) is an actor and writer based in Vancouver. Some career highlights include, playing Linda in Mom’s the Word (Belfry/PTE), the Western Canadian tour of her critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical solo show, Japanglish, 4 years writing and performing sketch comedy with the Assaulted Fish, and playing Tess in Sex in Vancouver 1 & 2 (VACT). Yumi is the writing instructor/dramaturge at Arts Umbrella and a member of the Wet Ink Collective.
